The UNLV rebels have been surrounded by a considerable amount of fanfare. With the promising players that they have at the moment, it’s easy to overlook the other good things going for the team. Once one gets over the recent acquisition of three-star quarterback Griffin O’Connor, the attention goes back to one of the team’s pillars, coach Tony Sanchez.

Shortly after his stint, he became an undergraduate assistant for the same university. Jumping from one football organization to another, he finally became a head coach for California High School in San Ramon, California, a team which ESPN pegged for doormat status, until Sanchez orchestrated them to contention in the North Coast Section finals.
This caught the attention of UNLV in 2014, as he was unanimously given the thumbs up by the Nevada System of Higher Education Board of Regents as the next head coach of the squad. Now he’s signed with Vegas until 2021.
The future looks promising for UNLV with Tony Sanchez at the helm. With the amount of trust that is most obvious here, his story will be a good thing to watch in the coming years.
